Kings View successful in NMC Conditions of Practice Order review

Kings View Chambers succeed in revocation of NMC Conditions of Practice Order.
This case involved a nurse, FN, who was subject to a Conditions of Practice order imposed by a Nursing and Midwifery (NMC) fitness to practise committee. After being unsatisfied with the law firm they initially instructed, FN approached Kings View to represent her in her case.
Following a review of the Conditions of Practice Order imposed, Kings View Chambers successfully persuaded a NMC fitness to practise committee to revoke the Order leaving FN free to continue practising without restriction.
NMC defence barrister and joint head of chambers, Catherine Stock, said:
“This case was interesting as it highlighted the confusing relationship between the registrant, an employment agency and the employer and a focus on who has the duty and responsibility to highlight skills and experience required for a particular role. Another interesting feature of this case was what standards are registrants to be judged against when there are no relevant standards for the profession, but standards do exist for other professions. We worked with this registrant from initial referral through to successful closure of the case and she is delighted to be able to practise without restriction.”
FN said:
“Catherine Stock has been a fantastic help in winning my NMC FTP case after failed effort with previous solicitors. She had my back all the way, and I am uber grateful to her for the outstanding victory.”
