Doctor avoids erasure
Our client, a doctor, has avoided erasure in a complicated case involving expert evidence, unusual internal processes and integrity allegations.
Dr SR, approached us just before their case was to be considered by the Case Examiners.
Given the allegations and evidence, there was no prospect of the matter being stopped at that stage, so focus moved quickly to case strategy.
It was a complicated matter involving expert evidence, unusual internal processes and integrity allegations. We pursued a clear and robust plan focusing on avoiding erasure, knowing that anything less than a suspension was an impossibility.
Fitness to practise defence barrister and Joint Head of Chambers, Stephen McCaffrey, said:
“Thankfully we achieved the suspension following the agreed plan. We continued that plan through suspension using Insight Works and our mentoring scheme. It worked once more and at her first substantive order review (SOR) this week she was re-instated and will be practising once more from next week. A fantastic outcome only achieved with tireless work and persistence.”
Dr SR said:
“Mr Stephan McCaffrey had represented me in my case at MPTS. I had an awfully painful situation, I was always assured and kept well-informed of my situation without any false hopes. I got excellent support. I am out of the words. Thank you is a not enough to appreciate the work that Mr S McCaffrey has done for me.“
