Joint Head of Kings View Chamber, Stephen McCaffrey, will sit on the 2020 LexisNexis Legal Awards judging panel.

Stephen’s selection on to the panel recognises his considerable experience and expertise as a leading barrister and legal expert in his field.

The LexisNexis Legal Awards (formerly known as the Halsbury Legal Awards) were launched in 2013 to recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation across the legal sector and they have attracted an increasing number of high calibre entrants each year. The winners at the 2019 event included Hodge, Jones and Allen Solicitors, The Bar Council and Herbert Smith Freehills.

As a judge for the 2020 legal awards, Stephen will determine the shortlist and winner for one individual awards category. Some of the legal categories include:

  • Law Firm of the Year
  • Chambers of the Year
  • Pro Bono Award
  • Award for Diversity and Inclusion
  • Award for Wellbeing
  • Award for Sustainability
  • Case of the Year
  • Lifetime Contribution Award

Stephen is a leading licensing and healthcare regulation defence barrister. Having progressed through the Bar in the usual way he founded the revolutionary direct access portal group of London Legal Barristers in 2009. It was revolutionary and utilised the best of traditional chambers whilst harnessing online tools and services. It was the first organisation working through online portals and websites. Specialising exclusively in direct access instructions in the areas of licensing and medical regulation he transformed that into Kings View Chambers in 2014. He remains Joint Head of Chambers. His new work involves defence barrister websites for taxi and licensing as well as specialist representation in all medical fields.

“I am very proud to have been selected on to the 2020 LexisNexis Legal Awards judging panel. It is a privilege to have been asked to take part in such a prestigious event promoting excellence and innovation across the legal sector.

“I have personally endeavoured to always deliver excellence and innovation through out my career as a lawyer so the ethos of the awards is something that has personal meaning to me. I look forward to seeing the nominations and I wish all the prospective nominees the best of luck.”Stephen McCaffrey
