Suspension revoked at MPTS review hearing following six-month order

A doctor who had previously been suspended by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) has had the suspension revoked with immediate effect following a successful review hearing.

The case arose from clinical concerns relating to the treatment of a single patient and was referred to the General Medical Council (GMC).

The doctor was not represented at the substantive Fitness to Practise hearing before the MPTS and was subsequently made subject to a six-month suspension order. Following the substantive hearing, he instructed Kings View Chambers to represent him at the review hearing at the conclusion of the suspension period.

Working closely with Kings View Chambers, the doctor undertook extensive preparation in advance of the review hearing. Following consideration of the evidence presented, the MPTS determined that the suspension order should be revoked with immediate effect, allowing the doctor to return to unrestricted practice.
